"outfront" tonight cnn contributor and republican strategist anna navarro who signed the brief and tim carney, senior political columnist with the washington examiner. tim, there are big names on this and even people, jon huntsman when he was governor of utah had been in support of civil unions but going in favor of gay marriage is even another further step for someone like him to take. does this help or hurt the party? >> well, it's actually going even further than just supporting gay marriage. they are saying that a state does not have the right, the voters of a state do not have the right to determine what marriage is but in fact, that the constitution somehow requires it accept gay marriage. i think going that further step, endorsing the federal court action, is what could hurt the party. there's disagreements on gay marriage, the republican party should have disagreements on all sorts of issues. that makes a party stronger. but trying to move it away from the power of what the people vote for and put in the power of the courts, that's harmful. >> by yo
